Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 1 Activity 1

Hello bloggers,

Today I am going to talk about explorers in the summer learning journey. People can use stars, sun, and ocean to navigate where they are headed. One such expert navigator was Nainoa Thompson. The old sea voyagers had to think carefully about what they could bring on the boat. Most of the boats were not facilitated with gadgets like fridge and freezers to store food for long. If I was to join the journey with Nainoa for a couple of weeks, then I would have to plan my food supplies very attentively. These are some clues of what is going to happen next.

So in this blog post, I have to think of something that I can take to a boat for a long journey. I would prioritize my food supplies as follows.

  1. Water because it is the most important thing in your body. 60% of our body is made of water.
  2.  The next one is protein bars. The nuts and fruits contained in them are rich in nutrients and small quantities can give good amunt of energy.
  3. I will bring soup packets because they are easy for digestion and good for my tummy when I am on the sea trip.
  4. The next thing is a healthy sandwich will also keep us healthy.
  5. Halfway through the next one is salt because my mum says that salt can stop us from puking so I think it will help me from seasickness.
  6. Another one would be coconut because coconut reacts like a bottle of glucose.
  7. You would like to take jam because it helps you with lots of disease what you have.
  8. Number eight should be fruits because they are an instant source of energy like coconut.
  9. You can also take canned food as your lunch/dinner.
  10. The last one is oatmeal I know that you need milk for oatmeal. So you can get milk powder instead of milk and use it in water.

The list above contains items vegeterian as I am a vegeterian.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 1 Activity 2

Welcome back bloggers,

I am born in the city of Mumbai, India which is a five-thousand-years old civilization. Culture is reflected in the way people live in India. My mother is a Gujrati by religion and my father is a Bihari, hilariously children like me are called cocktails. I adapt two diffrent cultures inheritedly.

The photos above depict a glimpse of my culture. The food that we traditionally eat, the clothes that we wear, the festivals that we celebrate and the rituals that we follow. I majorily have adapted my mother's culture. The famous dishes to my knowledge are Dhokla, Khandhvi, Undhiyu, Fafda, Thepla, Handvo, Ganthia, etc. A Traditional Gujarati Thali is served in silver platter consisting of Dal (lentils), rice, vegetables, rotis and it is incomplete without crispy fried Farsan, chaas(Buttermilk), sweetmeats, sour chutneys and pickles. The dinner basically consists of Bhakhri-Shak or Khicdi Kadhi.

The longest dance festival which is Navartri is a traditional dance form of Gujarat. I have learnt a few steps from my mother and accompany her each year. The music of the drums makes each ones legs just beat on to it. It is a very inspirational and joyous form of dance.

The language spoken is Gujarati, my mom talks to me a lot in it. I understand it fully but unable to speak. If I talk in Gujarati, I really sound like a robot who is mechanically trained for speaking some words. The language is spoken by 46 million people and it is the 26 most spoken language in the world.

In my past 11 years, this is what I have learnt as my culture. Hope you enjoy reading my blog and have learnt something new!
