Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 1 Activity 1

Hello bloggers,

Today I am going to talk about explorers in the summer learning journey. People can use stars, sun, and ocean to navigate where they are headed. One such expert navigator was Nainoa Thompson. The old sea voyagers had to think carefully about what they could bring on the boat. Most of the boats were not facilitated with gadgets like fridge and freezers to store food for long. If I was to join the journey with Nainoa for a couple of weeks, then I would have to plan my food supplies very attentively. These are some clues of what is going to happen next.

So in this blog post, I have to think of something that I can take to a boat for a long journey. I would prioritize my food supplies as follows.

  1. Water because it is the most important thing in your body. 60% of our body is made of water.
  2.  The next one is protein bars. The nuts and fruits contained in them are rich in nutrients and small quantities can give good amunt of energy.
  3. I will bring soup packets because they are easy for digestion and good for my tummy when I am on the sea trip.
  4. The next thing is a healthy sandwich will also keep us healthy.
  5. Halfway through the next one is salt because my mum says that salt can stop us from puking so I think it will help me from seasickness.
  6. Another one would be coconut because coconut reacts like a bottle of glucose.
  7. You would like to take jam because it helps you with lots of disease what you have.
  8. Number eight should be fruits because they are an instant source of energy like coconut.
  9. You can also take canned food as your lunch/dinner.
  10. The last one is oatmeal I know that you need milk for oatmeal. So you can get milk powder instead of milk and use it in water.

The list above contains items vegeterian as I am a vegeterian.
Thank you for reading!!!

  1. Morena Harshit, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I hope you had an awesome Christmas and New Year and I hope you are enjoying your holidays :)

My name is Kueni and I’m working as a blog commenter on the Summer Learning Journey this summer working with the Ako Hiko cluster. Have you done the Summer Learning Journey before? I’m looking forward to reading your posts and the other bloggers' posts from the Ako Hiko cluster, over the next few weeks!

Ka pai on completing your first activity for the Summer Learning Journey, keep up the hard mahi! I enjoyed reading your post about the 10 foods you would bring with you on a great ocean voyage with great voyager and navigator Nainoa. You have put together a really good and balanced list of foods you would take on this voyage.

I really like that you have explained why you would bring each of your items, in great detail. I can tell that you’ve put a lot of thought into especially when you’ve written about bringing water because our bodies are made up of 60 % water!

On your travels with Nainoa, where is one place in the world you would want to stop off if you could choose?

I look forward to reading many more of your blog posts this summer Harshit,

    Blog ya later,
    Kueni :)

  2. Hello Harshit,
It is me Vitaraag! I have just realised that you are participating in the Summer Learning Journey. I thought that I would just pop on your blog and see how you are doing. WOW! what a big blog post! I can tell a lot of time and effort went into making this. I 100% agree with all the food items you had there. I feel like you would survive a long time. I never actually have gotten seasick. Have you gotten seasick? Maybe next time you could say how much of each item you would want. Anyways, this is a phenomenal blog post! Keep up the astonishing work!
